Abstract

Just like the dreams of NFL players, the game of hockey provided people with the opportunity to hit somebody with everything they had. Hockey is known as a game where you hit a puck into a  net, but some fans just come to see the intensity and boiling blood of these players be unleashed. In addition to slamming people into the wall, throwing headshot punches, and group quarrals,  the obvious will to win takes the game to a whole new level. Since 1917, the rivalries created by the National Hockey League have become a brutal force to be reckoned with. In a sport where the  champion gets a 35-pound platinum trophy, there’s no such thing as playing soft. Because of this being a worldwide sport, different cultures from all around the world have come together to  show America what talent they were born with. Known a sport that combines violence, intensity, skill, and leadership all into one, the NHL never gets old for die-hard fans.

Commissioner: Gary Bettman

The Stanley Cup Final: Because It's The Cup!

The NHL is home to the largest championship trophies in sports history. The world-famous Stanley Cup weighs 35 lbs, with the Conn Smythe MVP award coming in second in overall weight  (unknown). Hockey is one of the longest-running sports of all-time, and the NHL is the second oldest league in America. Since 1915, the Stanley Cup Final has brought drama and rabid craziness  over fans and players everywhere. The cup has been used for many things, like holding alcoholic beverages, for stunning display, as a trophy, etc. To this day, when asked about why they want to  win it all, players and fans simply say......"BECAUSE IT'S THE CUP!"

Fredrick Stanley, referred to many as "Lord Stanley" (far left), is known as the Father of the Stanley Cup (middle left) that is given to the NHL Champions every year. Conn Smythe  (middle right), the founder of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has the MVP award named after him. Patrick Kane recieved his first of his career from Commissioner Gary Bettman in 2013 as  the Chicago Blackhawks became Stanley Cup Champions for the second time in four years after a 49 year drought (far right).
