The Art of Playing Chess

Have you always been interested in the complex board game of Chess? Have you wanted to learn but just haven't had the time to do so at your convenience? If so, you have come to the right site. Here you will learn the basic rules of the game along with the names of all the pieces and different attack strategies. While you are eager to learn, I do not recommend trying to learn this game or navigate this site as fast as you can. Go at a steady pace, perhaps one page per day. If you try to take in ALL of the information on this site in a day's time, you will likely feel overwhelmed and not want to learn anymore. Within this site, you will be educated on the history of the game along with instructions on how it is played. These instructions will come in the form of text, illustrations and videos (your computer system will need the Adobe Flash player to run these videos) explaining special concepts such as "fool's mate" and "En Passant." Upon visiting and going through every aspect of this site, you will come away with valuable new-found knowledge. This knowledge will give you the confidence to understand what is happening when you see others engaging in a chess match. As well, you will feel entirely comfortable accepting someone else's offer for a match or making one of your own. Below the picture of the board, you will find links to the specific pages giving you further instruction on how to play this game. You will then be on your way to discovering the enjoyment and challenge of the game. If you have any further questions upon leaving this site, feel free to contact me at gbrooks@siue.edu.
