The qualifications you need to become a host is having the experience in the radio field. Of course going to a college to major in Mass Communication is helpful if you take advantage of the opportunities to give you the experience. However, you can also look into hospitals or RSL (Restricted Service Licence) stations for the experience.
Another qualification you will need is your attitude. Here are a few that would be good to have:
1. ADAPTABILITY-help out others and adapt to change in the program.
2. CONFIDENCE-helps you to be calm.
3. COURTESY-don't be rude.
4. GOOD PERSONALITY-be someone the audience likes and can relate to.
5. LOTS OF INTEREST- do some activities and keep current in books, news, etc.
6. SOCIABLE-you must love meeting and working with people.
7. TALKABILITY-express your ideas so your audience can understand you and make it interesting. You also need to improvise if something goes wrong.
8. ORGANIZED-do your research on your guests, create competions, look for prizes, plan studio tours, and schedule roadshows or outside events.
9. But the most important quality is...BE YOURSELF!!!!!
