Radio Hosts are also known as presenters, announcers, broadcasters, and DJs. They are the image of the radio station they work for be it news, music, sports, or talk shows. It is a hosts job to keep the audience listening, so they will listen every day. A host needs to be entertaining and have good information to keep the audience interested. It is fun being a host, but it is still hard work.
If you are not a morning person and you get a morning shift to present, you better put on your happy face and get some coffee because you'll be in the station by 5 a.m. if not earlier. This job also takes a lot of your personal time. It can be last minute call-ins to the station or travelling somewhere. And, maybe the hardest one of all is revealing a little bit of information about yourself to the audience to create that connection between yourself and the audience.
How much the hosts earns depends on how good they are. The salary falls between $23,000-$86,000 a year. Still interested?...Look at the SKILLS page to learn more.
