Clinical interests:
My areas of clinical interest are in drug information and patient safety within the health-system setting. My background in clinical management and strong interest in drug information will enable me to join my two areas of clinical interest in a useful way from which others can learn. I also believe community involvement is a key role for pharmacists. My focus in the community setting includes speaking on a variety of drug information topics and directly interacting with patients. Through this interaction, I believe patients are encouraged to be advocates of their own health, pharmacists are viewed as approachable healthcare professionals and our profession is promoted as an integral component of the healthcare team.
Practice site information:
My current practice site is the SIUE Drug Information and Wellness Center (DIWC). The DIWC is a unit of the Department of Pharmacy Practice in the School of Pharmacy. The mission of the DIWC is to improve the quality of health care through communication, expansion, and integration of accurate, complete, and unbiased medical information ultimately benefiting health care providers, students, residents, health care professions and the community. The staff at the drug information center responds to requests for drug information only from SIUE faculty, alumni, preceptors, and contracted requestors.
The Drug Information & Wellness Center is also dedicated to supporting wellness in the community. Our participation in chronic disease management programs and health fairs not only aids community awareness, but it also teaches pharmacy students the importance of these contributions to the community.
