Today SIUE Welcomes Students for Fall 2016

SIUE welcomes students to campus today for fall 2016. 

University Housing’s Move-In Day will be from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. today at Bluff, Prairie and Woodland residence halls

A convocation for new SIUE students will be held at noon Friday, Aug. 19 in the Vadalabene Center. SIUE’s fifth annual Cougar Kick-Off is planned later from 6-10 p.m. Friday in the Korte Stadium

Move-In Day, New Student Convocation and the Cougar Kick-Off are all part of The SIUE Experience that runs from Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 18-21

The 2017 Paul Simon Outstanding Teacher-Scholar Award Program is Accepting Applications

The application deadline for the 2017 Paul Simon Outstanding Teacher-Scholar Award Program:

Considered one of SIUE’s most prestigious internal grants, the Paul Simon Outstanding-Teacher Scholar award recognizes those whose work most represents the intermarriage of teaching and scholarship.

Qualified tenured faculty members are encouraged to submit proposals by the above deadline.

Registration Begins Aug. 22 for Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge

Get your adventure on! SIUE is one of 90 universities nationwide, and the only in Illinois and Missouri, chosen to participate in the 2016 Outdoor Nation Campus Challenge.

The challenge is coordinated by Campus Recreation, and gives SIUE students, faculty, staff and surrounding community members an exciting opportunity to earn points for completing certain activities, win prizes and enjoy healthy activity. Activities range from biking, outdoor climbing and adventure racing, such as color runs and tough mudder competitions, to restoration and trail maintenance, stargazing, yoga and geocaching.

Outdoor Nation anticipates approximately 35,000 participants nationwide.

Pre-registration begins Monday, Aug. 22, via a free account at oncampuschallenge.com or through the free mobile app.

The challenge runs Sunday, Sept. 4-Saturday, Oct. 15. More details are included in this SIUE news story.
