SIUE Athlete Named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week
SIUE freshman Brock Woodcock was honored this week as a Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week. Woodcock, who earned his second Wrestler of the Week award this season, turned in a phenomenal performance at the Greyhound Open, Sunday Feb. 4.
Woodcock won the 157-pound weight class a dominating performance beginning with a four minute, 41 second fall over Kentucky Wesleyan's Cade Johnson. Woodcock followed with four consecutive technical falls, outscoring his opponents 62-1 en route to the tournament title. His title-winning match was a 15-0 win over Illinois' Logan Swaw, who was wrestling unattached.
Woodcock shared the West Division Wrestler of the Week award with Northern Illinois heavyweight Jacobi Jackson.
SIUE wrestling, 5-3 in dual meets, returns to action this Sunday, Feb. 11. SIUE travels to Little Rock to face CSU Bakersfield and host Little Rock. The first match is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
