• Must be actively enrolled in a graduate program at SIUE (Music, History, or related field preferred)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication
• Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
• Interest in archives, special collections, or cultural heritage materials
• Ability to handle fragile and unique materials with care and follow established handling procedures
• Interest or background in music, music history, or performance is helpful but not required
• Must be able to maintain a consistent weekly schedule during the academic year
This position will support the University Archives and Special Collections in inventorying, arranging, describing, and preserving the Ruth Slenczynska Papers, a large music special collection documenting the life and career of former SIUE Artist-in-Residence and internationally recognized concert pianist.
Key responsibilities include assisting with inventorying, processing, arranging, and describing the Ruth Slenczysnka Papers; processing and rehousing a wide range of formats, including textiles, A/V materials, photographs, scrapbooks, music scores, and correspondence; supporting reference requests about the collection; and additional duties as assigned.
