Helpful Dashboard Definitions
Term Codes: Each term is coded with the year and numerical indicator for spring or fall.
- xxx15 = Spring
- xxx35 = Fall
- Example: 202335 = Fall 2023 or 202415 = Spring 2024
Pass Rate: This value represents the percent of students who received a passing grade: A, B, C, and S. Non-graded courses are not included.
Adjusted DFW Rate: This value represents the percent of students who received a grade of D, F, Withdrew Failing (WF), or Unauthorized Withdrawal (UW). This adjusted rate allows SIUE to examine only the grades which negatively impact a student’s GPA. This rate does not include students who withdrew when they were passing the class (WP) or withdrew for special cases (WR). It also does not include withdrawals by students in the first three weeks of the term. Therefore, the adjusted DFW Rate includes D, F, WF, & UW only.
Pell-Eligible: students who are identified as having exceptional financial need on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal Pell Grants enable low-income undergraduates to obtain higher education.
First Generation: neither student’s parents completed a 4-year college or university degree (First Gen Forward)
Gender: The designation of gender is selected by the student at the time of application as their legal sex. Applicants are provided with the option of Male, Female, or No Response. These data are not defined in the same manner as IPEDS for which the SIUE Office of Institutional Research must follow and currently defines gender as the binary category of “Women” and “Men”.
