State and Federal Research Updates
Federal Update: Research Security Training Requirements
As part of the CHIPS and Science Act’s efforts to protect national security and mitigate the risk of foreign influence and intellectual property theft, researchers on federal research proposals will now need to complete annual research security training (Section 10634). Covered individuals must certify they have completed the requisite research security training within 12 months prior to proposal submission.
Researchers have several research security training options through SIUE’s online CITI Program. For details on the training options and specific sponsor requirements, please visit Export Control & Research Security.
Please also see Compliance Education for instructions on CITI account creation, log in information, curriculum, and training requirements for other research compliance areas.
