Applied Communication Studies

Caroline Skelly

Caroline is an Instructor in the Department of Applied Communication Studies at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, teaching public speaking, interpersonal communication, and conflict management courses. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, focusing on Corporate Communication while minoring in Business Administration. She received her master's degree in Speech Communication, specializing in Health Communication from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Caroline has had a wide variety of professional experiences including human resources, accounting, taxes, management, and coaching, and currently owns a small, local business. She’s involved in the Glen-Ed community fundraising and directing events and speaks on topics such as mindset, goal setting, emotional eating, nutrition, and fitness. She has consulted several businesses in workplace communication and has advised in business startup. She also serves as the Director of the ACS Skill Center, assisting the consultants with processes and how to best serve SIUE students and staff. Caroline is a helper. When she’s not teaching, she loves to help others with their resume and interview skills; she helps others communicate better whether that’s in writing or in person. She aids others in self-discovery, counsels in mind, body, and eating psychology, helps others minimize and declutter, and takes pride in her organizational skills.
