Student Success Coaches
Our Success Coaches are knowledgeable, supportive staff members who work with students in both individual and group settings to learn, develop, and practice the strategies and habits needed to succeed in and beyond the classroom. Grounded in a culture of care, Success Coaches meet students where they are, building trusting relationships that begin with the very first visit and continue throughout their academic journey.
Through personalized guidance and intentional support, Success Coaches help students achieve their personal and professional goals while fostering confidence, accountability, and overall well-being.
Common areas Success Coaches support include:
- Time management
- Overcoming procrastination
- Developing effective study habits
- Accessing mental health services, learning support, classroom accommodations, and other student support resources
- Understanding course expectations
- Navigating campus resources
Success Coaches partner with students throughout their collegiate experience, supporting them through the excitement and challenges of college life. From easing the transition during the first weeks on campus to maintaining accountability in the final weeks before graduation, we are committed to supporting students’ holistic growth at SIUE through a culture of care.
Students can request a Success Coach in Starfish or be referred by their Academic Advisor.
Are You First Generation?
You are considered a first-generation student if neither parent has a four-year degree. We've curated specialized resources and dedicated staff to ensure you and your family have the support needed to thrive.
Resources
SIUE Success Coaches are available to assist with time management, overcoming procrastination, developing good study habits, understanding course expectations and navigating online resources.
The Coaches also help students access support services such as mental health, learning support, classroom accommodations, and student support.
