In my short time in the photography industry I've learned A LOT. Lighting design, camera angles, production, post-production, directing....The fact is (and no one will ever really admit it), it doesn't take a long time to learn the basics of running production company. At least, a small one...
So, after working for other people for long enough, I decided it was time to start my own company.
I had the basics: a camera, the know-how to use a camera, and some contacts (it's really that simple). What I didn't have was a good name...
I spent weeks trying to figure what ONE name I wanted people to associate with me and my style of production...
Then one day while I was a at family get-together at my parents' home, my niece Emma came up to me and asked: "Uncle Nick, will you tell me a bed time story?"
Eureka!
I got into this industry because I appreciate the STORY. When I was a kid I read all the great mythologies: Greek/Roman, Norse, Mesopotamian...and I read all their contemporary counterparts: Comic Books. In its purest, most idealistic, sense, the media exist to share stories. Films. Photos. Mythologies. The News. All of it.
So, thanks to Emma and her love of a good bed-time tale, I created Tell the Story. Studios
