Description:
The hospital we evaluated used papers copies to keep track of patient files. Whenever something had to be updated they found the paper copy and edited it. By implementing an automated system into the hospital it would save money by reducing the time it took to keep patient records updated, and routine costs such as buying paper and ink. Another benefit of the electronic system is that the files could be transferred over to the accounting system to bill the patients. As a team we developed a plan using our project management skills. We had to analyze the hospital and its current capabilities before we could determine the requirements for a computing system. After figuring out the requirements for the computing system we came up with a design that provided detailed information regarding what the new system would do. Our plan included everything from testing, implementation, and training the staff on how to use the new system.
Challenges:
The challenge for this project was that this was my first experience being a project manger and analyzing a system. Being on team with others who were knowledge on this topic helped me overcome this challenge.
Reflection:
I have started the job application process. Knowledge of the SLDC is almost always listed as a qualification.
