Internet Radio: Student Soundwaves
Student Soundwaves is a student volunteer-run radio station with studios on the lower level of the Morris University Center next to Textbook Service. We are a flexible, non-major specific club that allows for a variety ways to use the recording booth. Talk shows, music shows, podcasts, voice acting, sports broadcasting... the list goes on. If you can think it, we can do it.
Our mission is to inform, entertain and teach while offering an eclectic mix of music shows, talk programs, and other shows created by SIUE students. With all the tools and equipment you see at an AM/FM radio station, students receive hands-on learning with their own time slot of programming.
Our History
As of August 26, 2026, the Web Radio Club has rebranded into the Student Soundwaves. Our aim is to gain more engagement and spread the news about our new, flexible club run by enthusiastic members.
SIUE Web Radio signed on to the internet air waves in March 2003. The project to give students an alternative for hands-on experience was spearheaded by graduate student Lisa Herman. Once under the management of WSIE 88.7 FM, Web Radio now partners with SIUE's Department of Mass Communications and The Alestle, SIUE's student-run news organization.
Every school year brings more exciting developments in streaming capabilities, campus events and a whole new roster of DJs to love.
