Graduation Celebrations

Black Graduation
Tuesday, May 1st

Morris University Center, Meridian Ballroom
The Kimmel Student Involvement Center, the SOAR Office, and the Office for the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs will host SIUE's Black Graduation Celebration on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 4pm - 5:30pm in the Conference Center of the Morris University Center.  It is a pre-commencement event to celebrate African and African American students. For more information or to register, click HERE.  You must be registered NO LATER THAN Friday, April 21, 2018, 4:30pm in order to participate.  NO EXCEPTION.  After you register, you will receive a confirmation e-mail prior to the ceremony with details/expectations for the event. Participation in the SIUE Black Graduation Celebration is open to all SIUE undergraduate and graduate students who have earned their degree for Spring 2018.  In order to participate, students must register by Friday, April 20, 2018.  Only students who have registered by this date will be guaranteed to be listed in the program, receive their recognition certificate and Kente stole.


Latinx Graduation

The Kimmel Student Involvement Center and the Office for the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs will host SIUE's inaugural Latinx Graduation Celebration on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 4pm - 5:30pm in the Conference Center of the Morris University Center.  It is a pre-commencement event to celebrate latino/a students. Participation in the SIUE Latinx Graduation Celebration is open to all SIUE undergraduate and graduate students who have earned their degree for Spring 2018.  In order to participate, students must register by Friday, April 20, 2018.  Only students who have registered by this date will be guaranteed to be listed in the program, receive their recognition certificate and graduation stole.  You must be registered NO LATER THAN Friday, April 20, 2018, 4:30pm in order to participate.  NO EXCEPTION.  After you register, your will receive a confirmation e-mail at some point prior to the ceremony with details/expectations for the event.  For more information and/or to register, click HERE. 

Nontraditional Student Graduation

Are you a nontraditional student? Do you attend college part-time, are you financially dependent, do you have children and/or a spouse, do you have your GED, did you not continue your education right after graduating high school? If you can answer yes to any of those questions, then this is for you!  The SIUE NSA (Nontraditional Student Association) and the office for the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs would like to celebrate YOU by honoring your milestone accomplishment with a small recognition ceremony.  This ceremony is to recognize nontraditional students who are graduating in May 2018 with their undergraduate degree.  It will be an intimate event to show you all that SIUE cares and appreciates the journey you endured to obtain your Bachelor's Degree! Graduates will receive a graduation cord to wear with their cap and gown during their commencement. Please fill this form out by April 4th, 2018. 

 
Rainbow Graduation

SIUE Safe Zone, the Kimmel Student Involvement Center, and the office for the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs will hold SIUE’s 4th Semi-Annual Rainbow Graduation Celebration on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from  4-5:30pm in Meeting Room A of the Morris University Center. The 2018 Rainbow Graduation Celebration is free and open to all LGBTQIA and Ally SIUE undergraduate and graduate students who have earned their degree in Spring 2018. To learn more about the event, please click HERE. Educational Outreach Non-credit classes

Personal Trainer Certification Course
Saturdays 9 a.m.- 12 p.m., April 7, April 14, April 21, April 28, May 5 & May 19
SIUE Vadalabene Center
Fee: $749 (Includes Level 1 Certified Personal Trainer Exam fee)
This class will give all the information needed to start an exciting fitness career & become a Certified Personal Trainer. Presented by World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.), this hybrid course consists of 15 hours of online lectures on key topics like biomechanics, exercise physiology, fitness testing, equipment usage, health assessment, and 15 hours of hands-on practical training labs with role playing drills on assessing clients, programming, performing proper exercises, presentation skills and more.

Learn about Japan’s fascinating culture as you learn the basics of the Japanese language.

Piano for Beginners
Tuesdays 6- 7p.m., April 3- June 5

SIUE Dunham Hall, Room 2015
Fee: $125
Learn to play the piano in this non-credit course. Beginners will learn the fundamentals of piano and music theory, such as rhythm, note names and values, sight reading, and how to play a variety of songs.
