How to Communicate Effectively as a Leader

Why isn't anyone listening to me?! Do you ever feel that your members hear what you say but it goes in one ear and out the other? Maybe how you're communicating isn't meeting the expectations of your organization's members. Attend this session to learn how to communicate effectively as a leader to enact change in your organization.  FREE lunch will be provided!

Are you seeking a full-time, internship, or co-op positions? Stop by the Spring Career Fair to network with employers about their opportunities. Optional Linked Professional Headshots from 12:30-1:30 pm both days. Professional attire is required! Bring copies of your resume and your Cougar Card for registration at the event!  Don’t miss your chance to network with employers!  Some employers may conduct impromptu interviews or schedule interviews for Friday.  So, please arrive prepared! A list of attending employers can be found on the Career Development Center’s website HERE.  Also, in the the list's "position type" section, it will tell you if the organization is looking to hire for full-time/part-time employees, internships, and etc.  For more information, please call the Career Development Center at 618-650-3708.

LeaderShape 2018

The Kimmel Student Involvement Center with generous support from the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs is pleased to announce the first SIUE session of the LeaderShape Institute.  The Institute weaves together concepts of community, inclusive leadership, vision, and integrity to help participants explore not only what they want to do, but who they want to be.  The six day, intensive leadership experience is being offered free of charge for 60 SIUE students May 7 thru 12, 2018.  You may learn more about LeaderShape and apply HERE.  For questions, contact Michelle Welter at mking@siue.edu.

Become a Cougar Guide

Do you remember your first days on campus as an SIUE student?  You were probably excited, nervous, overwhelmed, confused, eager, uncertain.  But now, you are a "pro" at this successful college student thing. Which is why we need your help! YOU can make a difference for new freshmen by serving as a Cougar Guide for The SIUE Experience!
  
Students must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA and a minimum of 24 semester hours at SIUE by the end of Spring 2018 semester. Due to the timing and hours required for the Cougar Guide position, Resident Assistants are not eligible to participate.  Springboard to Success Student Leaders and Housing Desk Managers are eligible to serve as Cougar Guides. Visit HERE for the full position description and to apply online.  Applications are due by March 16, 2018.  Questions about The SIUE Experience can be directed to Tarsha Moore via email at tarmoor@siue.edu.
