Upon Your Arrival

We look forward to welcoming you in person! Upon arrival in Edwardsville, there are a few things you will need to complete within your first week at SIUE:

• Gather all required documents for the first day of orientation. These may include, but are not limited to, official copies of your transcript, diploma, bank statements or any other items listed on your acceptance letter.
• Check in with the Office of International Affairs. Bring your passport and I-20/DS-2019 with you to complete your immigration check-in at the International Students and Scholars Office, located in Room 0300 in the Student Success Center.
• Attend New International Student Orientation. View the Orientation Schedule.
• Get connected at SIUE by activating your SIUE electronic username (e-ID) and University email account at siue.edu/eid. Your SIUE ID number (800xxxxxx) can be found on your admission letter.
• Update your local address. You are required to update your mailing and billing address, phone and email online through CougarNet as soon as possible. You must use a U.S. address for mailing and billing. Your immigration registration will not be complete until you have done so.
• Meet your academic advisor and enroll in classes. Graduate students should contact your academic department for instructions. Undergraduate students must contact the Academic Advising Office.
• Pay your tuition and fees. Fees may be paid in full or in installments at the Office of the Bursar. International students are not required to make a payment before arriving in the U.S. However, a payment should be made soon after registration is complete.
• Get your student I.D. card at the Service Center.
• Visit SIUE Health Service to submit your immunization record and any insurance waiver requests. The waiver period is the first 10 days of each semester.
• Bring enough money to cover your initial expenses when you arrive: $3,000-$4,000 is recommended to pay for housing, purchase books and supplies, and cover other personal expenses.
