Before You Arrive

We are happy to hear you will be joining us next semester! As a new international student, you can do some things before classes begin to make a smooth transition to life at SIUE. Please use the checklist below:

• Make housing arrangements. Learn about living on campus. You will need to complete a housing application and pay a $300 advance payment for University housing. Information about off-campus housing options are also available online. SIUE does not provide housing support for students who choose to live off campus.
• Make travel arrangements. Check the ideal arrival dates before booking your flight to Lambert International Airport in St. Louis, Missouri. Complete the Arrival Information Form to register for airport pickup and arrival support. Please note that new students arriving outside these dates will need to arrange and pay for their own transportation to Edwardsville.
• Complete immunization requirements. Immunizations are required for all international students enrolled at SIUE. All immunization records must be in English or accompanied by a certified translation. Find additional details about required immunizations on the Immunization Requirement section of the SIUE Health Service website. We recommend you complete your immunization requirement before you arrive at SIUE. Immunization costs in the United States can range from $75-$200.
• Register for orientation. Orientation is mandatory for all international students and is scheduled for the week prior to the start of each semester. For most students, class enrollment will take place during this week. Register for online orientation.
• Visit the “Arrival at SIUE” website for more information about what you need to complete before you arrive.
