Health Service has a limited supply of flu vaccine left after our initial walk in clinics. If you were unable to attend and still want to receive your shot with us, we will be offering the following dates and times as long as we have vaccine:

Fall Faculty/Staff Green Dot Education Session, Today

Green Dot is a comprehensive violence prevention program with objectives to decrease the likelihood of dating and domestic violence, stalking and sexual assault.

The intent of the education sessions is to train faculty and staff to endorse, model and support two Green Dot values:
1. Power-based personal violence is not tolerated in our campus community
2. Everyone will do their part to prevent violence

SIUE Community,

The Office of Enrollment Management (EM) has identified topics and dates for our October and November EM3 presentations. EM3 is our new series of monthly updates for the campus community on recruitment and retention efforts and emerging trends across the enrollment management landscape. More than 150 students, faculty, and staff attended the September EM3 presentations.

EM at SIUE is a very collaborative endeavor. EM Directors work with deans, divisions, and departments across campus. We engage in a tremendous amount of activity targeted toward the recruitment and support of a diverse student population.

EM3 updates shed light on activities initiated through the SIUE Enrollment Management Plan, New Reality meetings, University Congress discussions, The University Diversity Plan and other recruitment and retention best practices. Each EM3 session will conclude with an update on application, registration and enrollment numbers.

Figure drawing is a time-honored practice studying the human form as an artistic subject. It engages a professional collaboration between model and art students in which dynamic poses are held still for various lengths of time in order to capture movement and expression. Those who practice figure drawing regularly learn the underlying thought and process that aid in conveying the human form convincingly.

IRIS Brown Bag Presents Candice Johnson, Oct. 26

Candice Johnson, program coordinator for the “STEM Meets Humanities” initiative at the Mannie Jackson Center for the Humanities, will present an overview of her work with this innovative exploration:

New Family Friendly/Gender Inclusive Restroom at Lovejoy Library

SIUE’s Lovejoy Library is offering a new Family Friendly/Gender Inclusive Restroom that promotes an inclusive campus environment.

It’s located just inside the main entrance on the first floor and is also handicapped accessible.

“The University and Lovejoy Library are excited that we could help the Library continue to grow and meet the evolving needs of our students, faculty and guests,” said Rich Walker, SIUE vice chancellor for administration. “We are consistently working to remove barriers, and ensure the entire campus community feels comfortable and welcome.”

Participate in Beards for Boots Fundraiser for SIUE Military

The Student Veterans of America (SVA) organization will host their first annual Beards For Boots fundraiser starting Thursday, Nov. 1.

Beards For Boots is a facial hair growing tournament for males to support military men and women on the SIUE campus.

In order to participate, students, staff and faculty must sign up by Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Tables will be set up in the Morris University Center and the entry fee is $5.

Each participant will be placed in a tournament-style bracket, where they will go head-to-head with another participant to see who can grow the best facial hair that week. Participants will be judged by a member of the SVA on a scale of 1-5 on length, fullness, texture, style and overall appeal.

Winners of each round will continue on in the tournament until the last round on Monday, Nov. 26. Winners of each individual bracket, overall bracket winner and the people's choice award will be announced at the Winner's Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 30 in the Morris University Center Goshen Lounge.
