New employees are asked to register by visiting the following link. You must register in order to guarantee a spot in orientation. Supervisors are asked to register their new employees who do not have access to this e-mail.

Welcome New International Students to Campus with Your Donations

The International Hospitality Program (IHP) at SIUE welcomes international students to the area.

We demonstrate the warmth and generosity of the community by befriending them and helping them to feel comfortable in their new homes. The International Hospitality Program is asking your help in meeting the needs of the fall semester international students!

Please consider donating the below items to IHP for use by international students:

  • small desks, chairs and reading tables
  • vacuum cleaners
  • beds/mattresses (twin and full size only)
  • sheets
  • blankets/comforters
  • towels/wash cloths
  • small,light sofas/futons
  • living room chairs
  • lamps
  • kitchen tables and chairs
  • kitchen utensils, pots and pans, dishes
  • microwaves, rice cookers, blenders, food processors and toaster ovens

Please bring donated items to the IHP fall new student reception in the small gym of the Student Fitness Center on Wednesday, Aug. 17. Student ambassadors and IHP members will be available to help you unload beginning at 4 p.m.

If you have larger furniture items, you can call to arrange a pickup or you can deliver the items directly to the students.

You are Needed to Make The SIUE Experience a Success

In just a few short weeks, we will begin The SIUE Experience, our orientation program for new students held Thursday-Sunday, Aug. 18-21.

We will also welcome back our continuing students for the fall semester in a variety of ways.

Student Affairs is seeking the help of our campus partners to create a sense of community and connection to SIUE, while setting the stage for student success and retention by helping students navigate SIUE.

How can you help? Visit siue.edu/experience to view the complete schedule of events. If you have a free hour or so, please consider joining the excitement and assisting at one of the many activities during the program. 

A few examples:

  • Welcome new freshmen and their families by helping at University Housing Move In on Thursday, Aug. 18.  Contact Rex Jackson at rjackso@siue.edu to volunteer.
  • *NEW* Help students find their books during the busiest days at Textbook Service from Thursday-Friday, Aug. 18-19.  Click here to sign up online.
  • Distribute schedules, hand out T-shirts, give away prizes and popsicles and be involved in student outreach at The SIUE Experience August 18-21. Click here to sign up online.

SIUE Group Fitness Schedule Goes Mobile

Faculty and Staff Student Fitness Center members,   

You can now receive the SIUE Group Fitness schedule on the web and as an app, via IMLeagues and the REC IT FITNESS app. 

Sign up for your favorite sessions and receive email alerts on class updates, cancellations and more before getting to class. These new web and mobile app features are great tools that will add to your SIUE Fitness Center experience!

The Student Leadership Development Program is open to any SIUE undergraduate or graduate student and covers a variety of topics centered around leadership, communication and career issues.

*On Saturday, Sept. 24, we will host our Student Organization Leadership Orientation.  This is a required program for all of our student organizations.  There are more than 300 student leaders attending this program. Approximately 12 breakout presenters are needed for the morning. 

*On Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 4-7:30 p.m. we will host a Diversity and Leadership Institute.  This program will be open to 60 students. Anyone interested in presenting during any of the three session times would need to be able to cover such topics as issues regarding diversity and multiculturalism.
