Note these University Planning and Budget Council Appointments

Interim Chancellor Stephen Hansen has announced that Professor Morris Taylor, PAPA, will continue as chair of the University Planning and Budget Council for another year and Professor Nancy Lutz, Anthropology, will serve as chair-designate.

Taylor’s term as chair was to end on June 30, and John Navin, as chair-designate, was scheduled to begin serving as the new chair on July 1.

The UPBC is responsible for advising the allocation of the University budget and serves a particularly critical function during this time of transition.

Cougar Lake Pool Background Explained

A note from Interim Chancellor Stephen Hansen: There have been a number of inquiries on the discuss list recently regarding SIUE’s agreement with the City of Edwardsville to lease the Cougar Lake Pool, and I wanted to provide some background information.

The main objective of the pool was to offer recreational opportunities for our students. Even though the pool was funded by student fees, it no longer made financial sense for SIUE to continue operating the pool.

By leasing the pool to the City, the University will save a significant amount of money. Equally important, our students will still be able to use the pool for free.

Additionally, the City of Edwardsville and Village of Glen Carbon have graciously agreed to waive the residency requirement for SIUE faculty and staff members who would like to purchase either daily passes or a membership.
