New Online Master's Program Option

The Department of Teaching and Learning in the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior is offering a new online master’s program option in adult education.

This new program option is a series of online courses available in the master’s in curriculum and instruction. This option is designed to integrate the adult leader’s past and future work experience, including career and technical education.

The first course, AD ED 522 Program Planning in Adult and Continuing Education, begins Monday, March 14. This eight-week online course is designed to enhance the leadership and teaching skills for those who teach adults in a variety of work-related settings.

No K-12 teaching licensure or certification is required for AD ED 522 or the adult education program option. Students may enroll in one course or choose a master’s degree option in adult education. Prior learning credit may be available.

Several courses are offered through a partnership with the Southern Illinois Professional Development Center, which is housed at SIUE.

Contact Angie White for more information and to register.

Chancellor Search Advisory Committee Extends its Search

Please note that the following comes from the Chancellor Search Advisory Committee (CSAC):

The SIU Board of Trustees approved Witt Kieffer as the search firm to assist with the SIUE Chancellor Search in December 2015. The final paperwork was completed in mid-January 2016, and the CSAC is actively working with the search firm.

Upon the recommendation of the search firm, and the approval of the CSAC, we will continue to accept applications until Tuesday, March 15 (best consideration date), so that we can continue to get a strong applicant pool. The CSAC will simultaneously continue to evaluate applicants. We plan to select candidates for the first round of “airport interviews” in late March and conduct the first round of interviews in early April.

We will then select the finalists for campus interviews. We plan to complete all campus interviews before the end of the spring semester, so that we can receive input from the SIUE community.

We would like to thank all those who have nominated individuals for the chancellor position, or have provided us with feedback through the website, siue.edu/chancellor/search.

We have received several completed applications, and we encourage you to continue to communicate (nominations/feedback) with us through the “Get Involved” section of the Chancellor Search website,  chancellor/search/feedback.
