I Can’t Hear You When You’re Angry will be presented by Alison Reiheld, PhD, assistant professor, Department of Philosophy and Director, Women’s Studies Program. In a morally diverse society there can be intense disagreement, we often think of civility as the glue that makes society function.  However, we also use it to silence others. It must not be the case that we can dismiss justified anger with a simple, "I can’t hear you when you’re angry.” Learn to recognize our reactions so we can all be more wary of our impulses to silence angry and even righteously angry speech.

SIUE faculty, staff, students attend for FREE.  The cost is $5 for the general public.

More information about the presentations can be found at  Lifelong Learning Programs.

For more information, contact Patty Bade, SIUE Office of Educational Outreach, 618-650-3985 or pbade@siue.edu.

To assist in encouraging students to use our services, we will be happy to come to your classroom to do an introductory presentation about the services we offer. We also offer in-class workshops as well as workshops in the speech center itself on a number of topics, including speech anxiety, outline and research help and group presentations.

If you have a class where students are required to give presentations, and you think that they could benefit from our guidance, we would love to hear from you.
