Chancellor Search Advisory Committee Update

On behalf of the Chancellor Search Advisory Committee (CSAC), Chair Gireesh Gupchup would like to thank all those who have nominated individuals for the Chancellor position or have provided feedback through the Chancellor search website.

We have received several completed applications and we encourage you to continue to communicate (nominations/feedback) with us through the “Get Involved” section of the Chancellor Search website.

We would also like to inform you that the SIU Board of Trustees approved Witt Kieffer as the search firm to assist in the SIUE Chancellor Search. The Chancellor search website has been updated accordingly. We will strive to have the new Chancellor announced during the May 2016 SIU Board of Trustees meeting.

Please note our Chancellor search timeline. We will continue to provide you with updates and inform the SIUE community in advance of the on-campus interviews for the finalists.

Concept Commercialization Award Announcement

Interim Chancellor Stephen Hansen has announced the creation of the Concept Commercialization Award to support SIUE faculty, staff, and students in moving their inventions and discoveries into the market place. Through the generosity of the University Park Board of Trustees, funds have been provided to create this award in the spirit of University Park’s mission to support university innovation and industrial partnerships.

The purpose of the Concept Commercialization Award is to stimulate interest in and involvement with intellectual property development and commercialization in order to promote the public health, safety and welfare of the community and the economic welfare of the University. It will support the work of SIUE discoverers and inventors and support the surrounding community by encouraging industry investment.

It is in the public’s best interest, and speaks to their expected return on investment, that the University engage in moving inventions and discoveries developed at SIUE to the market place. It is also an opportunity to generate new revenue streams for the University and its inventors.

Awards will be given annually based on funding availability. Each application can request up to $15,000. Details of the Concept Commercialization Award and an application may be found online.
