Harry Duffey, 1935-2020; Was SOE Dean
Harry J. Duffey, PhD, died Wednesday, July 22 at his residence. He was 85.
Duffey earned a doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and was a faculty member there before joining SIUE in 1987. He eventually became dean of the School of Engineering before retiring in 1991, but continued to serve as emeriti faculty.
When civil engineering alumnus Ed Grady acquired interior naming rights for the Fowler Student Design Center’s second floor in 2018, he named a room after Dr. Duffey, honoring his contributions as a professor.
