Robert Valentine Denby, PhD, of Godfrey, died Thursday, April 9, 2020 at his home. He was 83.
He earned a master’s in English and Literature from SIUE, and attained a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois. After teaching at UMKC for 22 years, he finished his career at SIUE teaching English for 14 years in the College of Arts and Sciences before retiring in 2009.
Services will be private. Memorials may be given to one of the following organizations: Alton Educational Foundation, Alton Band and Orchestra Builders, and Heartland Baptist Church.
Gent Funeral Home in Alton managed the arrangements.
