Robert Kehoe, 1928-2017; School of Education Alum
Robert “Bob” Kehoe, of St. Louis died Monday, Sept. 4 in hospice care. He was 89.
A St. Louis native, Kehoe was encouraged by his wife to attend college at the age of 42. He earned a bachelor’s in physical education from the SIUE School of Education, Health and Human Behavior in 1973.
He became a legend in St. Louis soccer on both the amateur and professional levels. He played for the U.S. men’s national team in World Cup qualifying in 1965 and later coached the U.S. side in World Cup qualifying in 1972. Read more in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Instead of a memorial service, there will be a celebration of his life at the Soccer Park in Fenton at a time still to be determined.
