University Museum Students Present “Home is Where the Hearth is” Exhibition

The University Museum of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and students in the HIST 582 Practicum in Exhibit and Program Development course present “Home is Where the Hearth is: From Shelter to Sanctuary,” an original exhibition exploring the meaning of home, comfort and belonging through museum interpretation and design.
Developed in collaboration with University Museum Executive Curator Erin Vigneau-Dimick, graduate students worked directly with museum staff throughout the semester to research, design and install the exhibition as part of the Museum Studies Post-Baccalaureate and History master’s degree programs.
An opening reception was held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7 in the Fuller Dome Gallery at the Center for Spirituality and Sustainability. The exhibition will remain on display through Friday, June 12. Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday.
