Metro East Entrepreneurs to Access Growth Capital at SBDC Day in Columbia; Illinois SBDC for the Metro East at SIUE and Monroe County Economic Development Corporation to Host

On Wednesday, March 18, the Illinois Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for the Metro East at SIUE is partnering with the Monroe County Economic Development Corporation to host a high-impact "SBDC Day" specifically designed to help local business owners navigate the complexities of securing business financing and scaling operations.
As small businesses face a rapidly evolving economic landscape, access to capital remains a top priority. National SBDC data shows that clients who utilize these services are significantly more successful in securing financing, with $6.6 billion in capital facilitated last year alone. The upcoming event at 11 South (1000 Eleven South, Columbia, Ill.) aims to bring these results to the Metro East community through direct access to funding experts.
Event Highlights for Entrepreneurs and Business Owners:
• Advantage Illinois Roundtable (12 p.m. – 1 p.m.): A deep dive into the Advantage Illinois program, which bridges the gap between businesses and the funding they need. Participants will learn exact loan requirements and how to qualify for state-backed financing programs.
• One-on-One Financing Consultations: Private 30-minute sessions with expert advisors are available (10 a.m. -12 p.m. and 1:30-2:30 p.m.) to discuss specific capital needs, credit positioning, and growth strategies.
• Startup & Foundational Preparedness Seminar (3 p.m. – 5 p.m.): "Starting Your Business in Illinois" covers the essential legal and financial foundations required to become "bank-ready" for future investment.
"Our goal is to meet entrepreneurs exactly where they are with the specific tools they need to thrive," says Jo Ann Di Maggio May, SBDC Director. "Securing capital is often the biggest hurdle for a growing business, and this event provides a direct line to the resources that make it possible."
