Future Cougars will get an inside look at life at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville during Admitted Student Day, scheduled for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 17, on the Edwardsville campus. This signature event invites incoming first-year and transfer students, as well as their guests, to campus to explore academic programs, connect with campus resources, and celebrate the next step in their college journey.

“Admitted Student Day is a day for incoming students to come to campus and celebrate their admission with the SIUE community,” said Alicia Taylor, associate director of admissions in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. “For some, it’s a chance to learn about the University as they make their final college decision. For others who have already committed, it’s an opportunity to reaffirm their choice to attend SIUE.”

The day’s agenda is packed with numerous opportunities for students and their guests to explore the University through campus tours, academic informational sessions, and interactive classroom experiences. Faculty, staff, and current students will be available throughout the day to share insights about areas of study, campus involvement opportunities, and life as a Cougar at SIUE.

The event will also help students transition from admission to enrollment. Representatives from the Offices of Undergraduate Admissions, Student Financial Aid, the Registrar, University Housing, and New Student and Family Programs will be available to guide students through next steps, while opportunities to tour campus, including housing, Lovejoy Library and the Student Fitness Center, attend a class, and even find a roommate will help students begin preparing for their transition to campus.

One of the most meaningful parts of the day, Taylor noted, is witnessing students and their guests celebrate their decision to attend SIUE.

“Students have so many options for continuing their education, and choosing SIUE reflects their trust in us to provide opportunities to learn and grow,” Taylor said. “Seeing students celebrate their decision and realize this is a place they can thrive is truly something special.”
