GI Bill® Chapter 1607 (Reserve Educational Assistance Program [REAP]) - Summary
Program Information
REAP provides educational assistance to members of the Reserve components called or ordered to active duty in response to a war or national emergency declared by either the president or Congress.

Eligibility
- Reserve component members (active duty on or after 09/11/2001).
- National Guard members with active duty under section 502(f), title 32 U.S.C and 90 consecutive days of service.
- Individuals who have reached the 90 days point, whether or not currently on active duty.
- Disabled members whose illness/disease/injury was incurred/aggravated in the line of duty.
Covered Costs
Institutional training rates are based off of set amounts of training time and are funded accordingly. Please visit http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill/resources/benefits_resources/rate_tables.asp for current payment rates.
Timeline of Benefit Use
Complete termination of REAP is set for 11/25/2019. It is recommended that users or applicants of REAP refer to the Post-9/11 GI Bill as a potential program replacement.
Application Process
The REAP program is no longer available for new applicants, and it is recommended that applicants refer to the Post-9/11 GI Bill® as a potential replacement of the program.
Campus Requirements/Steps
- Complete VA form 22-1990 online or on paper. Online application.
- Complete VBI (Green Sheet) found in the Office of the Registrar (located in Rendleman Hall) or online. This must be completed each semester.
- Submit copy of DD214.
- NOTE: If benefits are used at another institution, VA form 22-1995 must be completed instead of 22-1990.
