Charnelle serves as a Staff Counselor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), where she is devoted to supporting the emotional, academic, and personal well-being of students. She holds an M.A. in Counseling from Lindenwood University and a B.A. in Psychology from Kentucky State University.
Dedicated to helping others in every capacity, Charnelle values seeing people healthy, whole, and empowered. Throughout her career, she has worked with students from diverse backgrounds and at many different stages of life, maintaining a strong commitment to helping them succeed both academically and psychologically. Her counseling experience includes providing individual and group support, with specialized focus on helping students navigate their unique needs, develop resilience, and build skills for real-world experiences.
In her role at SIUE, Charnelle aims to meet students where they are and foster a strong sense of personal awareness. She strives to help students feel confident in themselves while building a trusting therapeutic relationship. Her approach encourages students to be patient with themselves, be kind to their minds, and embrace the understanding that growth is a process. She often shares the reminder, “Whatever life plants you, bloom with grace.”
At the core of her practice is her commitment to offering a safe and welcoming space for students to explore, heal, and thrive.
Outside of her professional role, Charnelle enjoys shopping, spending quality time with family, and singing karaoke.
