What is Educard?
Educard is a special community program which allows you to attend selected credit classes offered by Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. It provides an opportunity for you to sample the subjects that interest you most, from accounting to zoology. Educard provides an economical and flexible opportunity for you to experience professional growth and personal enrichment.

Who is eligible for Educard?
Anyone who is not currently enrolled for credit in the University is eligible, such as…
- Business People
- Teachers
- Senior Citizens
- Families of International Students
- Anyone Interested in Learning
What about high school students?
High school students must be at least 16 years of age. They may take up to a total of three courses through Educard. After the third course, they may attend University classes only through regular admission or early admission to the University. High school students may not take AD 070, AD 082, AD 090, or through Educard.
Which classes are approved for Educard participation?
A wide variety of classes are approved for Educard participation. Please see below for the current approved class listing and this link to SIUE CougarNet where you will find the Course Catalog and Class Schedule including descriptions, dates, times, and locations for classes. As a reminder, online and blended classes are not approved for Educard.

What types of classes are not offered on Educard?
- Classes in which a danger may exist.
- Classes that have a full enrollment.
- Classes where added direct expense may be incurred by the University.
- Classes requiring extensive prerequisites.
- Noncredit classes.
- Travel study, on-line, and distance education classes.
What about textbooks?
As an Educard participant, you may borrow textbooks, as available, at no cost through Textbook Service, located at 200 University Park Drive, lower level. You may pick up your textbooks after the first week of classes, and you are required to return textbooks to Textbook Service at the end of the term. Where can I park?
As an Educard participant, you may purchase a red student parking hangtag at Parking Services in Room 1113 of Rendleman Hall. This hangtag will permit you to park in any of the designated “red” student parking lots while attending classes.
May I use the Library?
Yes! You may request a Lovejoy Library courtesy card for the term you are enrolled as an Educard participant.
Are there any restrictions?
Students who have been admitted to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville within the past year or who have enrolled at SIUE during the past year are not permitted to enroll in AD 070, AD 082, or AD 090, under the Educard program.
What is not included?
You will not receive a grade in a class in which you enroll as an Educard participant. No official University records of your classwork or attendance will be kept; therefore, it will not be possible to obtain a transcript of Educard classes. Since, as an Educard participant, you do not pay normal Student Welfare and Activity Fees, you may not participate in student services and activities supported by those fees. Some examples are: Health Service, Counseling and Testing Center, Placement Services, Cougar Lake recreation Facilities, Vadalabene Center, and other athletic facilities.
How much does it cost?
The fee for Educard is $60.00 per course. No more than three courses may be taken through Educard in any one term.
How do I register?
You may print off the Educard Registration Form, complete, sign and return the registration form. You may send your payment along with your registration form or you may pay after you are approved to participate in the course. Registration decisions are made two weeks prior to the beginning of class. You will be notified regarding the availability and approval of your chosen class(es).
