Why Theater and Dance?
The Department of Theater and Dance is a vibrant hub for makers, storytellers, and performers.
Faculty Who are Practicing Professionals
All areas of study are taught by faculty who are practicing professionals. They are actors, dancers, designers, archivists, writers, directors, choreographers and lecturers. Their creative and scholarly work is presented locally, nationally and internationally.
Exceptional Facilities for Artistic Expression
SIUE Department of Theater and Dance is located in Dunham Hall. Named for internationally renowned dancer, author, anthropologist and social activist, Katherine Dunham, the building serves as home to theater and dance, mass communications and music. Dunham Hall features a 380 seat proscenium theater, scene shop, costume shop, dance studios and rehearsal halls. In addition to Dunham Hall Theater, department productions also play in the flexible-seating black box Metcalf Theater.
