Chair’s Welcome
Welcome to the Department of Public Administration and Policy Analysis at SIUE. In our Master of Public Administration (MPA) graduate master’s program, we examine public organizations and how they function, as well as the impacts of public policy. We study public HR management, leadership, local government fundamentals, nonprofit management, issues of public safety and much more. MPA graduates pursue a wide range of career paths in federal or state government, county and local administration, and as nonprofit administrators. There are numerous professional opportunities in which to apply the MPA degree; we have students who utilize the degree as a credential into a certain field, while others pursue it for career advancement. Additionally, the MPA degree may serve as a foundation for a terminal degree in public administration or policy.
Our program’s full-time and part-time professionals offer flexible course scheduling to accommodate the diverse student population we serve. We have adapted and moved many of our face-to-face and hybrid courses online and continue to attract high-quality graduate students from various backgrounds and areas of interest. With the recent expansion of our offerings, the degree may now be completed in as little as 12 months. Current students range in completing the degree between 12-24 months. The SIUE MPA program also offers applied internships and graduate assistantships for interested prospective students.
Our MPA program recently was reaccredited by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA), the official accrediting body for schools of public affairs, public management and public administration. We will maintain this prestigious and well-deserved recognition for seven years due to the efforts of our outstanding full- and part-time faculty.
Thank you for your interest in our program. We look forward to reviewing your application.
