Advisory: Inclement Weather Forecast During Commencement Activities

Winter weather is possible in the region during Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s fall commencement ceremonies on Friday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 13 on the Edwardsville campus. At this time, all ceremonies and related activities are planned to proceed as scheduled. We are urging all participants and their families in attendance to prepare for potentially frigid temperatures and snowy conditions on area roads and walkways.

SIUE staff are implementing action plans to ensure that snow is cleared as quickly as possible during the inclement weather. While every effort will be made to ensure safety for guests, caution should be taken in driving and walking on campus. Warm clothes and proper footwear will be important in the expected weather conditions. Out of an abundance of caution, at the conclusion of each event attendees are asked to exit the facility as soon as possible and to make their way safely to their vehicles so that campus officials can continue clearing affected areas and prepare for the next event.

Any changes to commencement activities or University operations will follow SIUE’s established inclement weather procedures and will be communicated through SIUE email, the SIUE website, official social media channels and SIUE's E-Lert System.
