Goal 4: Contributes productively to group-based design projects by showing a willingness to listen to other’s ideas and by extending professional courtesy and respect to others.

In all of the classes that I have taken since starting this program, we have been asked to help each other with the different projects and papers. This, I feel, is one of my strong points. I really enjoy reading other people’s papers or projects and trying to help them create a better product. I try very hard to word my feedback in a way so that it comes across as constructive. I also feel that I am able to use other’s constructive criticism to my best advantage for my work. I am very accepting of the thoughts of others when it comes to improving my work. Although none of my projects that I have done so far in this program have been group based, I feel that I can prove that I can contribute to a group project through my contributions thus far.

IT 486

My IT 486 project was to build a website that taught "something".  Here are some links to discussions in the discussion board where I tried to keep an open mind and use the comments given to my best advantage.

Brainstorming the initial idea -- In this document, you will see how I worked with my instructor as well as my peers to brainstorm the initial ideas for my website.

Mager objectives -- In this we were creating our objectives. As you can tell, I needed tons of help to get it right.

Brainstorming -- In this document, you will find how I collaorated with my peers, but also a target audience member to get ideas to make my website fun as well as educational.

Website revision

IT 500

In IT 500, we were required to extensively comment on at least 2 projects. In looking at my examples from this class, I found a quote of mine that sums up my feelings pretty well about working with others. “I have found through this class that I really need my peers to review my steps in the design process and keep me on the correct path” (Schalk, 2012)

Part 2 -- I’ve reproduced from a printed copy of the comments made on my part 2 draft as well as the notes I made.

Dave's comments -- Before the finalized paper was turned in, Dr. Knowlton had us turn in our rough draft. He then went through it and made audio comments.

Contributes to others

I believe that I am a strong team player. I feel that I try to contribute in a way that is helpful. Here is an example of a very successful week in the discussion boards for me. You will find several threads here where I only include the relevant portions of the thread so that it is understandable to my readers how I contribute.

IT 486

Here are some threads from IT 486 where I feel I helped my peers with their projects.

Chris said I have a critical eye

Christy's target audience

IT 500

For this class, we did tons of revising our papers. Here are some examples where I helped.

Christy's initial brainstorm -- In this document, you will find where I helped Christy brainstorm some ideas for her project.

Lynette's final project -- We were required to read and critique at least 2 final project papers.

Ronnie's final project

Marlene's final project  -- I chose to do Marlene's even though I had already critiqued Lynette's and Ronnie's because I read through it and felt she really needed extra advice.

IT 510

Brainstorming -- in this exercise, we looked at a compay we were supposed to determine if instruction was needed to help prevent over-the-road trucking accidents.

Details -- This document shows that I have become detailed oriented in trying to get my ideas across in feedbak.

Teamwork -- In this document, I show that I can work as a team player
