Christy,
I'm going to write this as I read you post so I don't forget anything. The
flow of a nicely written post may not be there, sorry! I love history so
your project intrigues me.
1. What is a web quest?
2. You said you want to include pictures and statements. I think some video
would be powerful, too. Although it would be in German, I think that the
students could get the feeling of the day and how charismatic he was. Short
clips would probably be best to retain interest since they wouldn't
understand what he was saying.
3. You said in your concern section, "Another concern I have is that
the site will just be a bunch of content. I don’t want a big long
passage for students to read. I want something that gives them
information but it is short and to the point."
We've read about Skinner and how he believed information should be given in
small steps, some sort of evaluation, and immediate feedback. (Yes, this is
my theme tonight!) I think that by creating small chunks then some thought
provoking questions or some sort of game to test the knowledge would be an
idea. Then they get a chance to use what they've read. It always seems that
if information is applied right away, the person is better able to retain
it. (I know that I always try to apply my dental stuff to situations so I'm
more likely to be able to access it when the appropriate time comes.)
