Benoist Collection
Several hundred items (mainly letters and photographs) assembled by the late pianist, Andre Benoist,
and his son, Albert Spalding Benoist. Andre Benoist was accompanist to several celebrated artists,
including the violinists Kreisler, Heifetz, and Albert Spalding. Benoist and Spalding were close
friends for over thirty years, and the series of letters from Spalding to Benoist is perhaps the outstanding
feature of the collection.
This collection was presented to Lovejoy Library in February 1971 by Albert Spalding Benoist. An
inventory of the collection is located in the inventory binder.
