Welcome to SOAR!
SIUE's Student Opportunities for Academic Results (SOAR), is an academic program dedicated to helping students excel in their educational experience.
Upon being admitted to the program, a student will receive academic advising from one of our four academic advisors, free tutoring from our knowledgeable and experienced tutors, as well as other services such as mentoring. All these services are provided free of charge to the students to promote academic success and growth.
This year, we have a adopted a policy that C's will no longer be accepted as grades. With all the services provided students in the SOAR program, it should be possible to get an A or B in any class taken.
Our four advisors, Director - Dr. Earleen Patterson, Dawn Reed, Toni Whittaker, and Danita Mumphard, are all well-versed and experienced in academic advising so that students will not end up taking courses they don't need, wasting both time and money. They are the kind of people that actually care about their students' success and actually take an active role in their academic life. They receive grades of students twice a semester, and are able to intervene when necessary to facilitate harder or better work.
