The SIU Board of Trustees (5 Policies of the Board F) requires the University to have a Records Management program.  Records Management manages University digital and paper records.  Records Management uses principles of the document life cycle from its creation to disposition in assisting University staff to better manage their records.  Proper records management will ensure federal and state record compliance, reduce litigation risks and minimize storage requirements.

Update:  CONFIDENTIAL RECORDS SHREDDING
The State Records Commission is reviewing the Vice Chancellor for Administration’s Retention and Disposition Schedule. The Commission will accept or defer the schedule during its November meeting.

The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs’ Record Retention and Disposition Schedule will be the next for the State Records Commission. Records Management has been working with the units within the Student Affairs functional area.

Records Management has been working with the Provost’s Office and the College of Arts & Sciences to update their records schedule within the Academic Affairs Schedule.
