Thanksgiving Food Drive for SIUE Students, Donate by Nov. 10

SIUE prides itself on giving, but how does it feel to know that some of our own students are struggling with food insecurity?

You have the opportunity to help our students.

The Sociology Club and Student Organization for Sustainability are working on SIUE's first Thanksgiving drive for students, which will result in a campus pantry for students in need.

As the holidays are quickly approaching and classes ending, hunger does not take a vacation for many SIUE students and their families.

The Thanksgiving Food Drive is seeking to provide those in need with a bag of groceries to help make a Thanksgiving meal.

Please consider donating one or more of the below food items:

Instant mashed potatoes
Rice
Canned green beans
Canned corn
Canned spinach
Canned greens
Cranberry sauce
Gravy (packet or jar)
Stuffing boxes
Canned meats
Monetary donation for fresh produce

Donation sites are located in the Morris University Center, Peck Hall, Founders Hall and Alumni Hall. No time to drop off? Please contact Jalela Mitchell at jalmitc@siue.edu to schedule a pick up, or Dr. Connie Frey Spurlock in Peck Hall, room 1213 or at cfrey@siue.edu

All food donations are needed by Friday, Nov. 10.

Employee Recognition Program

The Employee Recognition Program Award is an esteemed accolade bestowed on an employee who epitomizes the University’s core values in his/her daily work. These employees are engaged in accomplishing the mission of the university, upholding our university’s values and routinely exceed the call of duty.

Do you have someone in your department who has a strong commitment toward achieving excellence in their work? Why not nominate them for the Employee Recognition Program award?

The program is designed to recognize staff for their exceptional accomplishments and service to our university community. Nominations can be made by faculty, staff, or students, but they must be supported by the immediate supervisor. Employees must be employed in their current position for two years and not have received the award within the last five years in order to be nominated for the award.

We encourage you all to nominate your outstanding staff members so they can be recognized for their hard work and dedication. To complete the nomination form and see criteria for the nomination letter, visit the HR page at:
siue.edu/humanresources/employment/employee_recognition.

Completed nomination forms and letters should be sent to: Jen Oates-Blair at joatesb@siue.edu or campus box 1040.

Thank you in advance for your time and nominations!
