Facilities Management Director Candidate Interviews Continue Today

A 60-minute campus open forum has been set for each candidate. Resumes for the candidates will be available at their respective forum sessions. 

For those who cannot attend the open forums, they will be recorded and posted for viewing by Friday afternoon, Sept. 22. Information about accessing the recordings will be shared in a separate message. 

Evaluation forms will be available at each forum and when accessing the forum recordings. All evaluation forms must be submitted to Janet Haroian via jharoia@siue.edu or campus box 1158 by the close of business, Thursday, Sept. 28.

Exhibit of Legendary Katherine Dunham on Display in Lovejoy Library, Beginning Today

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Performing Arts Training Center (PATC), a unit of SIUE that internationally famous Katherine Dunham founded and directed. 

The exhibit, “Katherine Dunham: A Life of Dance, Activism and Anthropology” mounted in Lovejoy Library from Sept. 21-Oct. 23 traces Miss Dunham’s early influences at the University of Chicago through her legacy in East St. Louis and beyond. Cory Willmott and Konjit Avent curated the event. 

Come out to the opening event from 4-6 p.m. today, which will include a presentation from Theo Jamison, Dunham master instructor and program director of the East St. Louis Performing Arts Training Center. 

The SIUE Department of Anthropology, SIUE University Museum, Lovejoy Library, SIUE East St. Louis Center and the SIUE Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion are sponsoring the event.

Special EUE Funding Available for FY18

Provost Denise Cobb has made available funding for Excellence in Undergraduate Education (EUE) program projects to be completed in by June 30, 2018.

The priorities for this special program will be to fund support projects that pilot or implement high-impact practices (or high-impact community engagement practices) in programs and broad disciplines in which such practices are not common nor well-developed. Further information about high-impact practices can be found at aacu.org/leap/hips.

The processes and guidelines for this special EUE funding opportunity will follow those already established for the EUE program (see siue.edu/eue). The deadline to submit an online application is Friday, Oct. 13. Proposals will be reviewed and awards announced by Monday, Oct. 23. Proposals must include a timeline that assures full implementation and evaluation are completed by June 30, 2018.

SIUE Speech-Language-Hearing Center Now Enrolling

SIUE’s Speech-Language-Hearing Center, located in Founders Hall, is now enrolling for the fall semester. 

The Center offers clients two 50-minute treatment sessions per week with a graduate student clinician, under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist.

Current openings for this semester through Dec. 7, 2017 include: 

Monday/Wednesday: 9:30 a.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. 

Tuesday/Thursday: 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m., and 5 p.m.

Description of Services: Provides speech-language evaluations and therapy for children, adolescents, and non-Medicare-eligible adults in the following areas: speech, language, voice, fluency, traumatic brain injury, transgender voice and accent modification for non-native speakers of English.

Tuition is $605 (payment plan available). Current SIUE Students: 50% Discount
