Benefits staff assist employees during the annual Benefits Open Enrollment, with coverage changes or questions, SURS retirements and supplemental insurance questions. Benefits staff also handle payroll deductions for all benefits, the Supplemental Retirement Plan (403b), and State Deferred Compensation (457) for all employees. They also communicate directly with Central Management Services (CMS) for all state insurance coverage (health, life and dental) and the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) for all employee retirement plans.
In addition, Benefits handles vacation and sick leave matters, administers Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) claims and facilitates communication with the state for Worker’s Compensation Insurance claims and Disability when employees are injured on the job.
