President

Presidents act as a face for KDP and must be up to date with details of service projects and events, as well as membership information. They must also keep the organization current according to university standards. This is usually done at the beginning of the year by attending Kimmel leadership seminars. Meeting agendas and presentations are planned on a monthly basis and a Powerpoint is typically created. Presidents lead meetings and speak during initiations in the fall and spring. The president’s most important job is to keep communication open among advisers, the executive board, and members. It is important to promote service projects and continue chapter structure and success.

Vice President

The Vice President is in charge of meetings when the Presidents cannot attend. They are also in charge of organizing the email account for the organization. This includes responding to emails or forwarding emails to the person it may concern.

Secretary

Treasurer

Membership Chair

This position is a large responsibility and is best done with atleast two persons. This position is multifaceted in its scope.
  1. Finding candidates for KDP from the entire School of Education department during the fall and spring semester's.  Chairs and committee members often visit classrooms to distribute information and answer questions about Kappa Delta Pi.
  2. Maintain an excel spread sheet each year to keep track of all members’ points.  This is critical for tracking membership activities when it is time for Letters of Recommendation to be written.  Periodically members will inquire about this information as well throughout the year.  In addition, database information is kept on file for all previous years due to returning members to the program.
  3. Maintain contact information of all members and track meeting attendance.  This database must be updated frequently.
  4. Review all applications to check for eligibility, note if fees are paid, and put new members into our database. These new members must be added to the gmail account as well.

Media

The Media Officer is in charge of updating the Lambda Theta website as needed <www.siue.edu/STACTV/kdp>.

At least one of the Media Officers in this position should have a fairly strong background in computers. After receiving the user ID and password from Dr. O'Donnell, the media officer can follow the personal web space tutorial at http://www.siue.edu/web/personal_space.shtml.

Media officers have discretion for revamping the website each year.  Currently, the site offers the following:  Information about Lambda Theta, Important Dats, Pictures, Members, Meetings, Service Projects, SIUE, and the KDP Official Site Links.

Public Affairs

This is a new position added in the 2009-2010 academic year. It is still being defined, but some responsibilities include:
  1. Promoting all aspects of Kappa Delta Pi and Lambda Theta events
  2. Maintaining administrative contacts and paperwork for all campus advertising
  3. Updating and distribution of KDP Booklet and Lambda Theta literature

As with the other positions on the Executive Board, the person taking on the role of Public Affairs Officer will help to make it into what it will be during their time through initiative, creativity, and willingness to go the extra mile. So have fun with it!!!

Fundraising
In Kappa Delta Pi, it is important for us to give back to the community. In order to do that, we have to hold several fundraisers throughout the year in order to raise money to support our efforts. As fundraising chair, you will be responsible for overseeing fundraisers throughout the fall and spring semesters. You may have a committee to help you in these endeavors. Some of the fundraisers we have had in the past are Fox Ticket Raffle, Cardinal/Cub Ticket Raffle, Coldstone Creamery, T-shirts, Totebags, Crazy Bowl, and Culver's.

ACE Award
This officer is responsible for documenting all the events, speakers, and fundraisers held by Lambda Theta. This information is used to create the Achieving Chapter in Excellence (ACE) binder which must be sent to Kappa Delta Pi headquarters. Interactin with other officers of the executive board is necessary to compile all needed records. Extensive collaboration with the Kappa Delta Pi Faculty Advisor is needed as well.

Historian
The Historian is in charge of capturing as many 'Kodak' moments as possible. This job allows new members to see what Lambda Theta has accomplished, and reminds current members what we are about. Not to mention, showing us all of the fun times in between. Having two individuals for this job provides a better opportunity that at least one historian will record every event. As the year progressess, the historian develops a scrapbook that displays the highlights of each service project or event. At the end of the year, a slideshow is prepared summarizing all fundraisers, meetings, events, Convo, initiation, etc. This slideshow is played at the banquet in April and at the following year's Fall initiation. Being the Historian is a fun and crucial part to KDP.
