Vincent M. Silvia

 

PRESENT POSITION:  Database Administrator, TRI-COR Industries, Inc. (May 2009 – Present). Mr. Silvia is the Database Administrator for the US Transportation Command under the Table Reference Data Management contract. He is responsible for the daily administration of multiple instances of the TRDM Database, including the development, test, and production databases, as well as other databases related to the project, all of which are Oracle 10g databases. Mr. Silvia is responsible for application testing, user account privileges, daily backups, database patching, and writing queries and scripts to accomplish regular or special tasks.

 

Systems Engineer III, TRI-COR Industries, Inc., (Jul 2009 – Oct 2009), Mr. Silvia works in a Data Mining team of eight data miners for US Transportation Command under the Consolidated Data Office (CDO). He was responsible for multiple mining projects, and various tasks within each project, from analyzing Interface Design Documentation to extract meaningful data and metadata, to constructing Data Dictionaries, and mining the documentation into CDO’s Database front-end, the Corporate Resource Information Source (CRIS), as well as peer reviewing the mining efforts of other team members. He proposed changes to the CRIS user interface to allow for more efficient entry into the database and more complete peer review efforts.

 

Data Analyst, TRI-COR Industries, Inc., (Jan 2008 – Jul 2009, Oct 2009 – May 2010), working on data quality for Air Mobility Command (AMC), Mr. Silvia was responsible for compiling message trails from multiple AMC systems, including the Global Air Transportation and Execution System (GATES), the Global Transportation Network (GTN), the Consolidated Air Mobility Planning System (CAMPS), and the Global Decision Support System 2 (GDSS2). In his role as data analyst, he created custom SQL queries to extract relevant data from the database solution to analyze the efficiency of the various systems according to specific metrics, and submitted trouble tickets to the respective systems to solve issues that he detected. He was responsible for compiling daily, monthly, and yearly deliverables and metrics for dissemination to other segments of AMC. In addition, he also served as a backup Functional Server Administrator (FSA), ensuring that the servers in his purview were kept up to date and free of vulnerabilities according to the directives of the 375th Communications Squadron.

 

As a Network and Administration Specialist with TRI-COR Industries, Inc., (Sep 2006 – Dec 2007), Mr. Silvia was responsible for several aspects of the day-to-day operations of the TRI-COR branch office. He administered and maintained a 12-workstation network, was responsible for on-site inventory control, and was responsible for upgrading and maintaining user PCs. He was also often in communication with TRI-COR Corporate to ensure seamless upgrades to corporate-wide infrastructure. He also served as the point of contact for building maintenance issues, and was responsible for maintaining a 100+ user phone system and database.
