About
Me
Hello! My name is Tyler Slaby and this year is
going to be full of excitement for all of us here at
Lakewood Elementary School!
Enough for the class here is a little
about me!!
I have 3 older brothers, a mom, and a dad.
I also have a cat and two dogs. The cat and one of the
dogs, Sophie, have been with me for 13+ years of my life.
They have been with me through the thick and thin and I am
glad to have had them. If the students want they can ask
me more as the year goes on! I aim to have the classroom
environment to be a warm, inspirational place where
learning and growth can happen.

Why Teaching?
It all started when I was 3 years old. I was
enrolled into Early Childhood Program in my hometown. I was
delayed in speaking and I had trouble with reading and
writing. Through my early up to 6th grade, I had phenomenal
teachers who helped me along the way to overcome this so
that I could function and be able to become self-sufficient.
It was rough because I became upset very often and it was
hard for me to complete my homework. When the work got
tough, I tended to shut down and give up. The reason I got
over this was because of my mom. Not really thinking about
it until the last few years, my mom was my biggest
supporter. Through her help and guidance, she helped me
become the person I am today and I am thankful for her. The
inspiration from my teachers and the help they gave to me, I
want to reciprocate for the next generations of learners and
that is why I am here today, as a teacher!
