I am an Instructor of Health Education and the internship coordinator for the Department of Kinesiology and Health Education. I
received my master’s and bachelor degrees from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and an associate degree in Human
Services from Ohio University. I teach courses such as International Health, Consumer Health Literacy, Public Health, Healthful Living,
Environmental Health, and Foundations in Health Education.
Prior to joining SIUE, I worked with Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation as the Health Education Program Manager, Hoyleton Youth
and Family Services as the Activities Coordinator, Chestnut Health Services as a FEMA Crisis Counselor and Program Planner, and
American Lung Association as the Assistant to the Program Director. I also worked with Health Recovery Services (Ohio) in different
capacities.
I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in Health Education at Southern Illinois University
Carbondale. My research interest focuses on international, women, and children’s health.
I enjoy helping women and children with their health needs. My goal is to contribute towards
building a healthy global community.
I have a passion for exposing students to global health issues. Consequently, I introduced an
international health course into the Health Education curriculum and also developed and currently
lead a Travel Study summer program to Ghana for students from the colleges of Education, Nursing,
and the Arts & Sciences.
