Development of New Courses
- 1991: IME492 - Introduction to Knowledge Engineering
Was developed and taught for the first time to seniors in Industrial Engineering as a
technical elective.
- 1992: IME492/CE492 - Knowledge-Based Systems
The course "Introduction to Knowledge Engineering" was upgraded to accommodate the
needs of seniors and graduate students in Civil Engineering, and the course title was
changed to "Knowledge-Based Systems".
- 1993: IME492/CE492/EE492 - Knowledge-Based Systems
The needs of the graduate students in Electrical Engineering were accommodated by a slight
upgrade of the subject contents. All three classes meet together at the same time slot. The
three courses as a result of the conversion from quarters to semesters were numbered IME497,
CE497 and EE487 and are cross-listed in the catalog.
- 1994: CE597/EE587 - Intelligent Engineering Systems
Development of an advanced level course in artificial neural networks for engineering
graduate students was undertaken and offered for the first time in Summer 1995.
- 1999: Changes to IME497/CE497/ECE487 and CE597/EE587
During the 1998-99 academic year, IME497, CE497 and ECE487
were changed to IME427, CE427, and ECE427 respectively. ME427 was also added as a new course and cross-listed
with these three courses as well.
Furthermore, ME587 was added and cross-listed with CE597 and ECE587.
